An upstate New York doctor who was in the “right place at the right time” revived a 3-year-old boy who was drowning at a hotel pool in New Jersey, police said.

Dr. John Blundell, gave the boy CPR Saturday after a relative pulled the tot from the 3-foot end of a pool at the Courtyard by Marriott in Montvale, Police Chief Joseph Sanfilippo told NJ.com.

“[It is] incredibly fortunate that the doctor … was in the right place at the right time,” Sanfilippo told the outlet.

Blundell, who specializes in internal medicine at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was visiting the Garden State from Niagara Falls, managed to revive the unidentified boy just before paramedics and other officers got to the scene, Sanfilippo said.

A Montvale officer who was less than a minute away when he was dispatched to the hotel then gave oxygen to the boy. He was taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for further observation, NJ.com reported.

Messages left early Monday for Blundell and Montvale police were not immediately returned.
