#Henry Golding To Lead Adaptation of Dean Koontz Thriller Series Nameless

“#Henry Golding To Lead Adaptation of Dean Koontz Thriller Series Nameless”
Dean Koontz has not seen many of his works adapted for screen, and Nameless will be the first since 2013’s Odd Thomas.
The report by Deadline states: “Koontz’s series of 12 short thrillers, which were first published in 2019 as Amazon Original Stories, follow Nameless, a man who – behind a wall of amnesia – can’t remember anything. Maybe he can’t bear to. He knows only the mission, assigned by a shadowy agency, and travels the country turning predators into prey and dispensing justice when the law fails. As he moves from town to town, the pain of his past can’t hold him back, until dark and splintered visions lead him toward his greatest test yet.”
In a statement, Koontz said: “I’m delighted to have my material in the hands of such dedicated and accomplished producers, and when I heard the name Henry Golding, I shouted, ‘Yes!’ Mr. Golding will be perfect and unforgettable as Nameless.”
Golding added: “I’ve long been fascinated by the idea of telling a mystery thriller in an episodic format. But to work with the master of suspense thrillers – Dean Koontz’s Nameless is beyond my expectations. To bring this exceptional series to the screen with my partners SK Global and Mazur Kaplan will be an exhilarating journey as we look to bring a fresh and unique take on Dean’s characters.”
While Golding has a fair number of projects already in production, including starring opposite Dakota Johnson in Jane Austen’s Persuasion, and the thriller Assassin’s Club with Sam Neill and Noomi Rapace, the project itself is a rare adaptation of one of Koontz’s stories considering the prolific author’s catalogue of titles. Once seen as an alternative horror author to Stephen King – whose own work seems to produce an endless stream of TV and movie adaptations – Koontz has only seen 14 of his novels and short stories adapted to screen, discounting a handful of sequels. Considering he is the author of over 110 novels and numerous novellas and short stories, which have sold a combined total in excess of 450 million copies, it is surprising that more of his work hasn’t made it to the big and small screen. While some of his early adaptations received only lukewarm reviews, Nameless could well kick start a new selection of Koontz work being adapted in future.
There is no word on a potential release date or platform for the series, but it will be executive produced by Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, Charlie Corwin and Marcy Ross for SK Global, Golding via Long House, and Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan for Mazur Kaplan.
