#Heiress Gloria Vanderbilt’s $1.12M home in contract

Just in time for Fashion Week! The Midtown East apartment where Gloria Vanderbilt lived for almost a quarter of a century is already in contract — after hitting the market just last month.

It was asking just $1.12 million, with maintenance fees of $4,311 a month.

Heiress, artist and fashion designer known for her skin-tight cigarette style of jeans, Vanderbilt died in 2019 at age 95.

As the great great granddaughter of railroad baron Cornelius Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt grew up in a Gilded Age townhouse on the Upper East Side, at 39 E. 72nd St., which was most recently on the market for $50 million.

As a child, she was known as the “poor little rich girl” after her mother and aunt fought over her trust fund. The buck stopped there.

Her son, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, once told Howard Stern that he did not believe in the concept of inheriting money. Cooper called it an “initiative sucker” and a “curse” and praised his iconic mom as the “coolest person” he knew, in part for her work ethic and for nurturing his.

Cooper has described a childhood of moving around a lot, with his mother immersing herself in home design projects. But 30 Beekman Place was her last stop.

Vanderbilt moved there in 1997 and it’s where she lived for the last two decades of her life.

Yes, it is in need of a rehab. But the bones are good.

The classic two-/three-bedroom, 2½-bathroom home is on the second floor of the 10-story prewar building.

Listing photos reveal a home bursting with eclecticism and color — including lots of red, pink walls and mirrored walls and unique touches, like a hand-painted fireplace mantle with an Einstein quote: “The distance between past, present and future is only an illusion, however persistent.”

The apartment features an eat-in kitchen, a windowed foyer, formal dining room, high ceilings and a living room with a woodburning fireplace.

Amenities in the building, which dates to 1931, include a gym and a bike room.
