28 years after Whisper of the Heart premiered in Japanese theaters, the Studio Ghibli anime film returns to the big screen in the City of Film, Chofu Cinema Festival 2023 and for the first time since 1995, will be screened alongside the On Your Mark anime short.

Whisper of the Heart was released in Japanese theaters back on July 15, 1995, being directed by Yoshifumi Kondo on a script written by Hayao Miyazaki. Original screenings of the film also showed the On Your Mark anime short, which was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and set to the song of the same name by Chage & Aska.

The short has been re-released as part of Ghibli Shorts collections but this is the first time since the original screenings that the short and film will be shown side by side.
