#Harry and Meghan reportedly hire film exec to lead production company

Fresh off their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tapped a veteran film executive to head their film and TV production company Archwell, according to a new report.

The couple, who accused the British royal family of mistreating them, has tapped Ben Browning, president of film and television production at FilmNation Entertainment, to head Archwell as it gears up to produce content for Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Browning, whose producing credits include the new Carey Mulligan flick “Promising Young Woman” and the HBO Max series “I Know This Much is True” starring Mark Ruffalo, is a veteran of international film and film financing.

The royal couple inked a lucrative deal with streaming giant Netflix in September 2020 that covers scripted and unscripted TV series, documentaries, feature films and kids’ programming.

Two months later, the duo signed an exclusive multi-year contract with Spoitify with plans to host and produce podcasts that uplift and entertain audiences. The deal kicked off with a holiday special hosted by the famous couple featuring inspirational stories. It remains unclear whether Browning will be involved in the couple’s audio deal.

A rep for the couple did not return requests seeking comment. Browning could not be reached for comment.

Browning, whose parents are British, had a quick rise in the film biz. He helped package and produce a number of high-profile indie titles, such as “Passengers and Room,” before joining FilmNation in 2014.

Prince Harry and Markle, who stepped away from their royal duties in January 2020, said at the time that they “would work towards” being financially independent. In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday, Prince Harry confirmed that he inherited money from his late mother Princess Diana, which according to reports, totaled about $13 million.

Those funds made it possible for the couple to separate from the royal family, he confirmed during the interview.

Between the Netflix deal– rumored to be worth more than $100 million– and the Spotify deal, believed to be worth about $25 million, the couple appears to have enough to start their new life in California, which involves paying “for security to keep my family safe,” Harry told Oprah.
