#Halloween still on in NYC, just wear a mask, de Blasio says

New York City families should only go trick-or-treating outdoors this Halloween due to the coronavirus pandemic and face masks should be worn with costume masks, Mayor Bill de Blasio advised Wednesday.

“Halloween is happening in New York City and it’s going to be safe in New York City,” de Blasio said during a City Hall press briefing, adding that the Oct. 31 spooky holiday is “going to be different” this year, “but it’s going to happen.”

Hizzoner laid out a series of guidelines for Big Apple kids and their families to enjoy Halloween while safeguarding during the coronavirus crisis.

Those include: trick-or-treating outdoors only and not in apartment buildings, doling out treats in a bin instead of physically handing them out, stepping back six-feet after ringing a doorbell, using hand sanitizer, and wearing a face covering over a costume mask, de Blasio said.

“It can go on and it can be fun for our youngest New Yorkers,” the mayor said of Halloween.
