#Greg Norman home after Christmas hospital visit: ‘F–k COVID’

Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman returned home Saturday after a trip to the emergency room with coronavirus symptoms on Christmas Day.

“This sums it all up. My Christmas Day. On behalf of millions, f•#k CoVid,” Norman posted on Instagram with a photo of himself in the hospital. “Get this s@#t behind us never to experience it again.”

The 65-year-old revealed that he had tested negative while playing in the PNC Championship in Orlando, which ended Dec. 20, and again on Dec. 22, but said he started experience COVID-19 symptoms “after being exposed.”

“To all my family, friends, fans and partners. Thank you for your concerns, support and flood of special meaningful words of encouragement and love,” Norman wrote on Instagram on Saturday. “I am home now after admitting myself to the ER yesterday, Christmas Day, with symptoms very suspicious to what I have read about relating to COVID.”

His symptoms included fever, headaches, muscles aches, which he said he is still experiencing Saturday but on a “lesser level.” On Friday afternoon, Norman posted photos to Instagram showing himself in a hospital room.

Norman’s son Greg Jr., who he was with at the PNC Championship, announced Friday that he and his fiancée Michelle had COVID-19. Norman Jr. later said he and his fiancée were both feeling “100 percent and had not had symptoms for three days.”

The elder Norman had hosted the QBE Shootout, which he founded in the late 1980s, at Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Napes from Dec. 9-13. He then competed with his son Greg Jr. in the PNC Championship from Dec. 17-20.

The Shootout was held without fans, although there were Tiburon members who attended after being screened. People affiliated with QBE Insurance, the title sponsor, were also in attendance and had been tested.

Norman was once the No. 1 golfer in the world for 331 weeks, a record later broken by Tiger Woods. He also has 88 international golf victories including a pair of British Open titles.

He said he will continue to quarantine at home.

“I do not have my PCR Covid test results as yet,” he wrote. “Hopefully in the next 24 hrs. Until I get 2 consecutive negative tests I will continue to isolate with my dog Apollo keeping me company.

“Again thank you all for your concerns love and support and please be safe, stay healthy and be smart. And let’s put this 2020 in our rearview mirrors and look to 2021 and beyond where we can get back to life in whatever the new normal will be. God bless you all.”

Norman went viral last month after posting a bulging beach photo on Instagram.
