The grandmother of the 1-year-old Brooklyn boy killed in a hail of bullets at a barbecue made an anguished plea Monday to end the scourge of gun violence — and ensure the “bastards” responsible can never hurt anyone else.

These a–holes need to stop shooting children, stop shooting innocent bystanders,” Samantha Gardner told The Post at her Bedford-Stuyvesant home. “This is only a baby, 1 year old, that didn’t even get a chance to start his life.

“I hope they catch the bastards and put them under the jail cell.”

Davell Gardner, just two months shy of his second birthday, was seated on a little plastic chair at the Sunday night gathering outside Raymond Bush Playground when multiple gunmen approached and opened fire before running off, cops said.

Three adult men, ages 27, 35 and 36, were also struck in the fusillade, police said.

But little Davell, hit in the stomach, was the only one killed.

“I got a call from his mother,” recalled Gardner. “She was hysterical.

“She kept screaming, ‘Junior got shot! Junior got shot!’”

The tot fought for his young life at the hospital, but couldn’t be saved, succumbing to his wounds around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

“After he passed, I asked to see him,” said Gardner. “He was shot in his little stomach.”

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea paid his respects to the boy’s mother early Monday, but police did not immediately announce any arrests, or identify a motive behind the attack.

Stop the gun violence,” the boy’s father, Davell Sr., pleaded to The Post. “An innocent soul was taken.

“I just want those people to pay for what they did.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio called the slaying, the latest but most wrenching yet in a summer of surging gunplay, “horrifying” and vowed once again to crack down.

Gardner bemoaned the fact that amid the slew of shootings, the violence had finally found her and her family.

“This summer, there have been a lot of shootings. But this hits home,” she said. “This is my blood.”
