#Danny Elfman Announces First Solo Studio Album in 37 Years, Shares New Video: Watch

Danny Elfman has announced Big Mess, the composer’s first solo, non-soundtrack studio album since 1984. The 18-track record includes the comeback song “Happy,” as well as “Sorry,” “Love in the Time of Covid,” and “Kick Me.” Announcing the album, Elfman has shared another song, “True,” which arrives with a thoroughly creepy music video directed by Sarah Sitkin. “The video is an exploration of fractured identity, muffled through the lens of memory,” Sitkin said in a statement. “Danny is a central figure within the video, yet only in his reproduced likeness via prosthetics, masks, and 3D printed body parts. I wanted to make a video that was gritty, unpolished, and uncomfortable.” Find “True” below.

Big Mess is out June 11 via ANTI- and Epitaph. According to a press release, Elfman made the album during quarantine in 2020. Contributors to Big Mess include drummer Josh Freese, bassist Stu Brooks, and guitarists Stu Brooks and Nili Brosh.
