Google Pixel 3 & 3 XL Review: Impressive or Mediocre?

The Android software has changed the communication world. Google has been working on smartphone hardware and smooth software. The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have acquired hardware and software from Google.

Google didn’t leak anything until these two smartphones were launched in the market. But, they are no surprise if you are expecting something ravishing from these two Google products. Interestingly, there is no significant change in the hardware and build compared to last year’s design.

Design & Display of Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

Google has kept the overall hardware and design pretty simple. We can’t find many differences between the Google Pixel 3 series and other recent launches in the Pixel series from Google.

Google Pixel 3 XL has a larger screen, and it will definitely give tough competition to all the relevant smartphones out there.

Additionally, it feels heavier compared to last year’s innovation. What we find a bit inconvenient is the glass back. Google provides it with a semi-matte finish, and it feels interesting to touch. However, we can’t discard the chance of the phone getting slipped out of hands. In addition to this, the glass back can easily catch smudges and fingerprints.

No doubt, the display quality is better than the previous years’ experience. The colour accuracy makes the video experience more soothing. The bezels are comparatively thinner, but there is again a hiccup. The presence of the huge notch is something that doesn’t go with such a premium display, we believe.

Performance Metrics

The performance mostly depends on the processor. Both the Google devices have got the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. We notice no app crashing, camera incompatibility, or anything else while running multiple applications on Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. There’s a big thumbs up, whether browsing hours after hours or playing intensive games on these gadgets.

On a contrary note, Google Pixel 3 XL seems to heat up when we use the camera application too long. Additionally, Google has equipped both gadgets with RAM of 4GB, and rumours were there that the RAM management of the Pixel series tends to kill a few background apps.

In addition to this, there has been no issue in launching apps on both phones. The storage performance is a significant victory for Google, and it has made a leap to the F2FS file system from the Ext4 technology.

What about Battery Performance?

Google Pixel 3 XL is slightly bigger on the battery aspects than the Google Pixel 3. If you are tired of your sluggish and overnight-draining android phones, then Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are two great options. The Pixel 3 XL comes with a 3430 mAh battery, whereas the smaller one, Pixel 3, comes with a power of a 2915 mAh battery.

The Google Pixel 3 XL can last up to 14 hours with a single charge. Interestingly, this device is capable of wireless charging. However, it’s not all about the battery power. The sync with the right piece of software makes a big difference for the entire Google Pixel 3 range.

Android Pie: The Software inside Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

Android version 9.0 is in the driving seat of the Google Pixel 3 range. The addition of smarter software would turn this smartphone into the hype. Notifications appearing on the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are eye-catching, and managing your notifications was never this easy before.

In addition, the User Interface brings a real twist to your experience. AI-driven smartness has welcomed everything with gestures. Now, you can depend on a single home button rather than those three buttons. You can play with gestures and set them to explore apps, cameras, etc.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the easiest-to-go Android versions to date. It comes with Digital Wellbeing, and it helps you to set a limit for applications. It’s a nice attempt to control yourself from unnecessary browsing on platforms like social media. Once you exceed the limit, the application turns grey, and you have to increase the limit or quit the application.

The benefit of Digital Wellbeing is really useful, especially when you are using Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram all day. Additionally, you can preset bedtime, and the Wind Down feature automatically converts your screen grey. Therefore, we can conclude that the Google Pixel 3 series software is more exciting than its hardware counterpart.

Google takes pride in offering such fine quality camera results for its users. The Google Pixel 3 comes with a bunch of new camera features, such as:

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are tough competitors to iPhone XS Max, Galaxy Note 9, and other high-end smartphones. It can be your next purchase if you are a fan of the latest software and great camera specs. However, the hardware changes are not so overwhelming. Not to mention, Google Pixel 3 XL comes with a high price tag.
