#Shunsuke Takeuchi Plays an Expert Athlete in Burning Kabaddi TV Anime

Protagonist Tatsuya Yoigoshi prepares to tackle with all his might in a scene from the upcoming Burning Kabaddi TV anime.

A new cast member has been revealed for Burning Kabaddi (known as Shakunetsu Kabaddi in Japan), an upcoming TV anime based on the hot-blooded sports manga by Hajime Musashino about a high school team that plays a full-contact sport from India that's somewhat like rugby crossed with tag.

A character setting of Shinji Date, a member of the Noukin High School kabaddi club with a muscular physique and an intense expression, from the upcoming Burning Kabaddi TV anime.

In Burning Kabaddi, voice actor Shunsuke Takeuchi plays Shinji Date, a second year student at Noukin High School. Prior to playing kabaddi, Shinji was an experienced baseball player who played in the position of pitcher, but he had to retire from baseball due to an injury. When he was looking for something new to do in high school, Shinji was invited to join the kabaddi club by Mizumi. Shinji is blessed by a powerful body and great muscular strength, but he's a bit awkward. He's been playing kabaddi for approximately 6 months.

The story of Burning Kabaddi follows Tatsuya Yoigoshi, a former soccer ace who gave up sports after graduating from middle school. One day Tatsuya is scouted by Masato Ohjyo, the captain of the Noukin High School kabaddi club. Tatsuya is convinced that kabaddi is just a joke, but his athletic instincts awaken when he attends a practice match and discovers that the sport is actually closer to a martial arts competition.

A key visual for the upcoming Burning Kabaddi TV anime, featuring the main characters Tatsuya Yoigoshi and Masato Ohjyo in their team uniforms, preparing to pounce.

Burning Kabaddi is directed by Kazuya Ichikawa and features animation production by TMS Entertainment. The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo and other stations beginning in April of 2021.
