An off-duty cop was punched and robbed by a subway miscreant Tuesday morning, but it was a civilian good Samaritan who chased down the low-life — only to randomly die of a seizure on the train ride home, The Post has learned.

The incident happened on the southbound No. 1 train on the Upper West Side around midnight when Percy Freeman, 43,  allegedly approached the 23-year-old cop and told her to give him money, according to police. He moved to another train car but then returned and allegedly punched the cop in the face, police said.

Freeman allegedly yanked her purse and she yelled to the conductor that she was a police officer, cops said. The crook dumped out the contents of her purse before fleeing the train at the 86th St. Station.

The crazed man then ran down to the end of the platform and removed his clothing, police said.

But a 55-year-old chased the suspect in an effort to detain him until cops arrived, police said. Once the suspect was apprehended, the good Samaritan got back on the train and suffered a medical episode, cops said.

He was discovered unconscious at the 72nd Street Station. EMS took him to Mt. Sinai Hospital but he couldn’t be saved.

Freeman was charged with robbery, assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct, police said.
