A new preview video has been released for the Japanese dubbed version of Heaven Official’s Gift (known in China as Tiān Guān Cì Fú), an animated TV series based on the fantasy novel of the same name by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu that follows the otherworldly exploits of an ill-fortuned immortal who ascends to Heaven but he gains the reputation of being a god of bad luck.
The preview video (below) highlights the main Japanese voice cast and also features the songs “Friizia” by Sora Amamiya and “Jiu no Kuchizuke” (“The Kiss of Blessed Rain”) by Sid, which are the ending and opening themes for the Japanese dubbed adaptation of Heaven Official’s Gift, respectively.
Funimation describes the story of Heaven Official’s Gift as follows:
Xie Lian, the crown prince of Xian Le Kingdom, successfully ascends to Heaven during his third trial in spite of successive demotions. However, he accidentally breaks the Gold Palace of heavenly officials. With no human worshiping him, Xie Lian has to descend to the secular world to exorcise ghosts, which may help him sustain his divinity.
Heaven Official’s Gift is directed by Li Haoling and features animation production by Haoliners Animation League. The series originally streamed in China on bilibili in October of 2021, and it is also available via streaming in the United States via Funimation. Heaven Official’s Gift will broadcast in Japan on TOKYO MX and BS11 beginning on July 04, 2021.
