#God of War: Ragnarok, “One, Unbroken Shot” From Start to Finish
God of War Ragnarok Narrative Director Matt Sophos confirmed on Twitter that Sony Santa Monica will be continuing one of God of War 2018’s cinematic & narrative stylings. It will make the entire game a continuous shot from beginning to end.

This time, Cory Barlog will not be directing God of War Ragnarok. Cory Barlog is the creative director of American video game developer Santa Monica Studio. He is a video game director and writer, known for his work on God of War, God of War II, and God of War.

Ragnarok’s new director, Eric Williams, is clearly being respectful of the first game. He’s preserving the essence of the game by keeping the one unbroken shot vista. It’s likely a lot harder to do the game in one take. Matt Sophos, a screenwriter, affirmed on Twitter to a fan’s suspicion whether God of War Ragnarok will be one-shot again, or if there will be cuts and camera transitions from one character to another or more traditional cutscenes like in past God of War games.

This exhilarated players in the hope to have a vivid and immersive experience just like in God of War 2018. Such gameplay accentuates the gaming experience and makes it more personalized.

Mixed Reactions From Fans

  • Santa Monica Studio also announced a new character in the game named Angrboda; played by Laya De Leon Hayes. Fans, however, have mixed reactions over including a persona of color and “mythological inaccuracy”.
  • On the other hand, the appearance of Tyr, a Norse God and a son of Odin, half-brother of Thor, is a smart strategic move by Sony. Such ingenuity is meant to make players feel more intimate with the characters, especially Kratos and Atreus. This design worked out wonderfully in execution and the wait to witness it again in Ragnarok is a bliss to many players.
