#GM to Debut All-Electric Chevy Silverado E with 4-Wheel Steering – Review Geek

This week GM confirmed that it will officially unveil the new all-electric Chevrolet “Silverado E” on January 5th in Las Vegas at the annual CES 2022 convention. We received a few teasers about its 4-wheel steering, glass roof, and more during the announcement.

The company will officially unleash the Chevy Silverado E and GMC Sierra E during a live keynote in early January. Plus, we’ll likely hear more about its plans to go all-in on electric vehicles, not to mention the Equinox EV and an unnamed $30k EV Crossover. However, considering the Silverado is Chevy’s number-one selling vehicle in the U.S., it’ll likely take center stage.

During this week’s announcement, we didn’t learn too much, but GM did release a teaser photo showing a top-down look at the Silverado E’s glass roof, not to mention a video highlighting the 4-wheel steering turn radius.

According to GM, the Silverado E was “designed from the ground up to drive circles around the competition” as the company looks to quickly become a leader in the EV space and take Tesla head-on.

GM President Mark Reuss talked briefly about the 24-inch tires and wheels on the Silverado, not to mention the same unique 4-wheel steering and, hopefully, crab walk capability as the new EV Hummer.

Then, considering the Silverado E will use the same “Ultium Platform” as the new Hummer, we’re expecting somewhere around a 400-mile range, which is impressive for a truck. Plus, no Ultium-powered car unveiled thus far offers less than 300 miles of range, suggesting the EV Silverado may go further on a charge than Ford’s F-150 Lightning.

Other tidbits from the announcement confirmed the Chevy Silverado E would be offered in a fleet configuration for those interested, plus GM has plans to deliver UltraCruise (hands-free driving), which will cover 95% of driving situations. The company also wants to get into the car insurance game and eventually sell electric vehicles to the military.

Essentially, GM is going all-in on electric vehicles, and we’ll learn a whole lot more come January 5th in Las Vegas. That said, don’t expect the Silverado E to reach dealers until at least 2023 or later.
