#‘Glee’ Castmembers Team Up to Finish Previously Unreleased Naya Rivera Song for Charity

Glee castmembers have teamed up for a special holiday gift in honor of Naya Rivera, who died in 2020 at age 33.

A previously unreleased Rivera song, “Prayers For The Broken,” which she recorded in 2012, was released posthumously on Friday, and it was all thanks to her former co-stars, who received permission to finish the single.

The track was released for the annual Snixxmas Charity Fundraiser, which has been organized every year since Rivera died and benefits one of her favorite charities, Alexandria House.

“We hope that ‘Prayer For The Broken’ brings you the same comfort it has brought us over the years — a poignant reminder of Naya’s otherworldly talent and a heartfelt gift, allowing us to hear her once more through this inspiring message,” Alexandria House wrote.

The Glee cast, including Ashley Fink, Vanessa Lengies, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz, contributed their backing vocals to finish the song after getting permission from Rivera’s mother, Yolanda Previtire, and the original songwriters, Isaac Hasson and Lindy Robbins.

McHale, who played Artie on the popular Fox musical series, shared a video on Instagram, which featured those involved in the project.

“This year, let’s celebrate the gifts Naya gave to us, her talent and her heart,” he wrote in the caption. “This song has meant so much to me over the years, and now I hope it will for all of you.”

The Ventura County Medical Examiner previously said that Rivera died as a result of accidental drowning after she went missing while boating in Lake Piru, California, with her 4-year-old son.

According to Alexandria House’s website, the organization’s goal is to provide safe and supportive housing for women and children experiencing homelessness and trauma.
