#Giants’ John Ross displays crazy speed in camp TD catch

#Giants’ John Ross displays crazy speed in camp TD catch

Observations from Giants training camp on Saturday.

Thunderbolt Ross

Ultra-fast WR John Ross ran a slant behind CB James Bradberry and in front of FS Logan Ryan and stretched for a catch. It was almost as if the surrounding players were trapped in slow motion while Ross ran to the end zone and then back to the celebration, too. If the former first-round pick could only stay healthy …

How offensive!

Two brutal days in a row for the offensive line. With an officiating crew on hand, the Giants were penalized for multiple procedural penalties and would’ve allowed multiple sacks if the action had been live. Will Hernandez and Kenny Wiggins were both subbed out after false starts and, because of the Giants’ shortage at guard following the retirements of Joe Looney and Zach Fulton, OT Nate Solder had to take a rep inside.

Caught my eye

Backup kicker Ryan Santoso put all 258 pounds of his body into drilling two field goals from about 65 yards away. The NFL record for longest field goal in a game is 64 yards. Santoso is a punter, too, but the Giants probably are set at kicker and punter, with Graham Gano and Riley Dixon.

Injury report

WR Darius Slayton and OLB Azeez Ojulari did not participate as part of coach Joe Judge’s plan to monitor load management. RB Gary Brightwell left Friday’s practice with trainers and did not return. DL Raymond Johnson returned from injury and WR Dante Pettis took a step forward by joining individual drills. Elerson Smith could be the first to return among many missing OLBs.
