“General Mills, Audi, Pfizer pausing Twitter ads: report”
General Mills and three other companies have paused advertising on Twitter, days after the social media platform was acquired by billionaire Elon Musk for $44 billion.
“We will continue to monitor this new direction and evaluate our marketing spend,” a spokesperson for the maker of Cheerios and Lucky Charms cereal said.
Meanwhile, Oreo maker Mondelez International, Pfizer and Volkswagen’s Audi have also temporarily paused their Twitter advertising, the Wall Street Journal reported. Advertisers are concerned about a flurry of executive departures and Musk’s plans for content moderation, the Journal reported. They join automaker General Motors, which last week said it had temporarily halted paid advertising on Twitter.
The Post reported Tuesday that a “big four” advertising agency has reportedly recommended clients “pause” running ads — and others are making plans to move their budgets elsewhere if the site becomes chaotic and unpredictable under Musk.
