Gamescom 2021 Coming Soon! Predictions and more

One of the biggest gaming events in the world, Gamescom is all set to return for its 2021 edition. As expected, due to the pandemic it will be held virtually, although it was previously hinted to be a hybrid event. But just like Gamescom 2020, this year’s show will also be an all-digital affair, featuring an opening showcase. Here’s all we know about it.

When and Where

Gamecom 2021 will be held from August 25th to August 27th virtually. Every year it is held in Cologne, Germany at the Koelnmesse exhibition but this year, just like 2020, there will be no physical event. It starts with Opening Night Live on August 25, a showcase event hosted by Geoff Keighley and the main Gamescom show will roll out across three days to August 27. The developer conference, Devcom, will start on August 23 for its content focus days and then switch to business focus days from August 25 to August 28.

As of now, 19 publishers are confirmed to be attending Gamescom 2021 and there will also be 80 indie titles showcased via virtual booths during the event. However, Sony and Nintendo were found missing from it. The 19 major publishers are:

Expectations and Predictions

Since its such a big stage we expect some big news from the developers regarding most anticipated games and updates. Some of our predictions are as follows:

  • News centering around Xbox’s two big games coming later this year: Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, as well as a trailer for Sable which is set to release in September. More information on games like STALKER 2, Starfield and Arkane’s Redfall are currently set to be launching in 2022.
  • From EA, we can expect updates about Battlefield 2042 and FIFA 22, which are supposed to be out in October. We can also hear updates for the publisher’s service games like Knockout City and Apex Legends.
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are currently slated to launch in 2022, so Ubisoft will definitely tease towards their future. We can also expect updates about Far Cry 6, Riders Republic and Just Dance 2022.
  • Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring is coming in January 2022. It is highly anticipated game and without any doubt, they’ll have some incredible news for gamers.
  • We are all eagerly waiting for updates about Call of Duty 2021. This year’s Gamescom may be the perfect opportunity for Activision to reveal something about it to the gamers.
