#Jacquard Looms showcase young Londoners with their “Where I Belong” video

London trio Jacquard Looms ake the kind of woozy, melodic music perfect for those moments where life is a little blurry; really late at night or first thing in the morning. Their new song “Where I Belong” is no different, mixing low slung rhymes and gentle hooks to create an uplifting and soulful balm. What truly elevates “Where I Belong,” however, is its video.

Premiering above, the “Where I Belong” visual has a simple enough premise; holding up a camera to the diverse face of young London. The resulting footage, though, becomes much more than that. Featuring characters like buzz-cut ravers and old guy smoking, to guys voguing in the west end, the video captures a moment in time. Both in the sense that it feels like stepping out into the city and letting intuition guide you, as well as being a capsule of what a vibrant capital looks like in 2021.

Speaking to The FADER about their time making the video, Jacquard Looms said: “Creating the video was a life-affirming experience for us; the majority of people we approached were so eager to be involved and interested to find out more about our music. The three of us being behind the cameras, as well as interacting with every single person, made it all very personal. What a privilege to work with such a diverse range of people, and capture the joy and passion of young London. We also wanted to capture that joy, especially after the social restrictions we’ve all been through. Shooting and editing the video really taught us that it is your disposition that makes you attractive, not your looks, and ultimately we should all be more confident. Every individual we met had beauty in them, but few of them believed it.”
