#Florida man Benjamin Moulton admits to killing Nicole Scott in 2011

A Florida man walked into the sheriff’s office Wednesday and confessed to strangling a woman to death more than ten years ago, allegedly telling cops he “couldn’t live with the guilt.”

Benjamin Moulton, 43, told detectives that he killed Nicole Scott in 2011 during a fit of rage, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“He told detectives he had since ‘found Jehovah and couldn’t live with the guilt anymore,’” the release stated.

Moulton allegedly revealed to cops details of Scott’s death that were never made public.

Surveillance footage obtained by the Herald-Tribune shows Moulton apparently getting dropped off in front of the sheriff’s office, stepping out of the backseat of a car, and strolling into the office with a drink in his hand.

He comes back outside accompanied by an officer, the video shows, as he speaks through a mask with slumped shoulders – the drink still in his hand.

“It almost never happens this way,” sheriff’s office spokesman Randy Warren told Fox 13.

A man found Scott, 29, dead in a wooded area off University Boulevard in Manatee County, the release said. She was partially clothed and had signs of trauma to her face and was later found to have been strangled, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities, who determined her body had been dumped there days prior, spoke to Moulton at the time in relation to the crime but never arrested him or directly linked him to the crime. Detectives were never able to identify “a clear suspect” in the case, the sheriff’s office said.

Moulton is now facing a first-degree murder charge.
