#Finn Wolfhard Says He “Didn’t Know” What He Was Doing in Early ‘Stranger Things’ Episodes

Finn Wolfhard recently opened up about how he wasn’t exactly the most skilled actor during his early days on Stranger Things — and understandably so, considering he was 12.

During an appearance on Hot Ones, the actor explained he doesn’t watch things from early in the show all that much, but when he does he realizes something.

“I didn’t know what I was doing back then and like, in a lot of ways I think that really helped me and now like, as you get older you get so much more like, kind of like self-obsessed,” he said. “You get a little more in your head…and I feel like I learned so much more obviously since then but I wish I had a little bit of that naivete.”

Woflhard portrays main character Mike Wheeler on Netflix’s hit sci-fi series. He is the center of his friend’s group. He’s the boyfriend of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the best friend of Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink).

Elsewhere in the Hot Ones episode, Wolfhard talked about someone who attempted to rob him and his friends while they were shooting Night Shifts, a short comedy film directed by the actor.

“In real life, while we were shooting the robbery scene a guy came in with like a fake, he like welded a fake gun together,” Wolfhard said. “He came in just kind of brandishing this fake gun and Artoun [Nazareth], the guy who is playing the burglar turned around with his fake gun, and they were just pointing fake guns at each other like a standoff. And the guy left, and because I was so into, I was like, ‘Cool.’ And everyone was like, ‘No!’ It was nuts.”

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production in Atlanta.
