According to a job listing on the Japanese Square-Enix employment page, the development of the latest mainline entry in the Final Fantasy series in Final Fantasy XVI is well underway with basic development and scenario development now complete, with the current team members working from home. The page listing is seeking additional help with the game's development, specifically seeking development assistance with stages and fields, large-scale cutscenes, character actions, and other game-specific assets.

The game was officially revealed last month during Sony's Playstation 5 Showcase as a surprise announcement and is being produced by the same internal Square-Enix group respnsible for the development of the popular Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG, with XIV director Naoki Yoshida and Hiroshi Takai both handling the game.
