# Final Fantasy XVI demo launches June 12

The demo will allow players to start a new game of Final Fantasy XVI and play the opening prologue, which features over two hours of gameplay. Once the prologue content is cleared, a special battle demo will unlock, in which players can experience the action combat of Clive with additional Eikonic abilities. Save data from the prologue portion of the demo can be carried over to the full game when it launches. Players will not be able to save progress from the battle demo.

In other news, Square Enix announced that both PlatinumGames and the Kingdom Hearts development team in Osaka had a hand in the development of Final Fantasy XVI. The PlatinumGames development team that contributed to Final Fantasy XVI was led by NieR: Automata game designer Takahisa Taura. The Kingdom Hearts team contributed to the game’s battle system.
Final Fantasy XVI is due out for PlayStation 5 on June 22.
