# Final Fantasy VII Rebirth features “wide and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom,” says director Naoki Hamaguchi

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will feature a “wide and multifaceted world” explorable with “a high degree of freedom,” according to director Naoki Hamaguchi in a new developer comment posted on the game’s official Twitter account.

“Players will be able to journey across the wide and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom, experiencing a myriad of different stories along the way,” Hamaguchi said in response to a question asking how players will journey through the world outside of Midgar.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is due out for PlayStation 5 in winter 2023. If you missed it, yesterday’s developer comment from producer Yoshinori Kitase said “development is progressing smoothly and according to plan.”
