Film Review: Party Panda: The Birth of a Serial Killer (Short Film)
Synopsis:
Miron, a socially awkward twenty-year college student whose best friend is a taxidermized dog, develops an unhealthy fixation for another student after a brief encounter. Imprisoned by his home life, caring for his dementia-riddled mother, he longs for acceptance. Instead, he finds only humiliation and physical abuse at the hands of the school bullies. After a sudden and traumatic accident leaves Miron alone, his world crumbles and a dark alter ego emerges from within. What begins as a chance encounter evolves into a gripping tale of vengeance and bloodshed, blurring the lines between reality and madness.
Review:
Party Panda was written by Danny McDermott, and directed by Uriah Herr. Danny McDermott portray Miron and the Panda. He meets Sammy while sitting on a bench in tears. Sammy portrayed by Samantha Gordon. Sammy invited Miron to her sorority’s Halloween party, and well, I think Sammy is blowing Miron off.
Justin Paul, Lizette Santiago, Roz McHenry, and Juan Sanchez Molina also star in this short film. One thing about Panic Fest, they never disappoint with the short films. I get where the serial killing panda will be coming from. Roz McHenry is great as Momma. Norman Bates entered the chat.
We have seen killer bears, dogs, sharks, alligators, crocodiles, sloths (YES, I SAID SLOTHS. Look up the movie), dinosaurs, tornadoes of sharks… I mean a killer Panda. Why not. We watched a tire; a TIRE be a killer. It’s funny, we get a different story. The writing, the cast, the PARTY PANDA. I mean, come ON!
