“#Fetty Wap Originally Didn't Want His Name On Drake's 'My Way' Remix”

The New Jersey native joined DJ Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast on Wednesday (December 22) where he explained how he never wanted to have a verse on Drake’s version of “My Way” and rather let fellow Remy Boyz rapper Monty get the shine as the lead artist.
“That was Monty’s breakthrough record,” he explained. “When we first did the record, I asked [Drake], ‘Yo, could you just take my verse off and keep Monty up there and just leave me on the hook?’
“The first and last time I ever spoke to him is when he asked me to get on the song and that was it. I haven’t even seen him in person yet.”
Fetty Wap detailed how he left the Drake version off his self-titled 2015 album which probably made the 6 God feel some type of way.
“I reached out to [Drake] maybe like 2019 I hit him and nothing,” Fetty continued before Akademiks asked if Drake maybe thought he was being ungrateful. “Probably, most likely. Then, when I didn’t put it on the album, he was probably like, ‘Who the fuck this n-gga think he is?’”
Fetty Wap’s “My Way” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2015 to give him a pair of simultaneous Top 10 hits along with “Trap Queen.” The JayFrance-produced track is also certified 3x-platinum.
