#Every confirmed mutant in the MCU so far

Mutants in the MCU? Heck yeah! Well, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in its fifth phase since the franchise’s reboot more than a decade ago. Avid fans have been asking for the inclusion of mutants since forever, and now, we are getting more and more of them. Slowly, mutants we all loved and will be loving continue to arrive on various MCU shows and films. Some of which were unexpected while some made it a joyous day for Marvel fans. That being said, here’s a list of confirmed mutants that have been featured in the MCU so far.

Namor the Submariner

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever featured a new Black Panther after the passing of the character and the actor T’Challa/ Chadwick Boseman. Aside from that, there’s a new big bad who has been hiding in the shadows and underneath the surface – Namor. Namor is the king of an ancient civilization called the Talokan people. The Talokanil tribe were formerly humans but have adapted to a new environment to survive.

What made Namor a mutant was the mutated genes that allowed him to breathe underwater and on the surface. Unlike his people, Namor can breathe on land without the use of breathing equipment. In addition, Namor has wings on his feet that allow him to fly. The actor who plays the character, Tanoch Huerta, has also confirmed this detail. Although Namor is one of the oldest mutants known in the MCU, X-Men’s Apocalypse goes thousands of years back, making him probably the first mutant.

Professor X

As we all know, the X-Men franchise has been separated from the MCU since it was exclusively owned by Fox. But, with Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the Mutants will now be part of the MCU. Despite that, it was still a sight for sore eyes seeing Patrick Stewart reprise his beloved role, Professor X, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Professor X now joins the list of confirmed mutants in the MCU. However, the version shown in the film wasn’t Earh-616’s (our universe) Professor X, but rather an alternate version from Earth-838.

Ms. Marvel

Leading up to the finale of Ms. Marvel, nobody knew that Kamala Khan was a mutant, not until Bruno Carrelli (Matt Lintz) revealed that Kamala indeed has somewhat of a mutation.

Initially, everyone believed Kamala was “inhuman”. Turns out, she was a hybrid mutant. Kamala has mutated genes as well as Clandestine genes (from the Noor Dimension), which she unknowingly inherited from her family. All of these combined allowed her to wield extreme abilities like Captain Marvel.

Wolverine

With Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine coming to the big screen again as part of Deadpool 3, the most beloved X-Men character now joins the ranks of MCU’s list of mutants. Technically, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman are currently the holders of the longest Marvel career. X-Men’s debut was already 23 years ago.

There’s not a lot of explaining to do here. Wolverine is one of the original members of X-Men and his powers and personality made him the most famous of the group. His much-awaited appearance in the MCU would pave the way for other X-Men members such as Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and more.

El Aguila

Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law may have brought the idea of “breaking the fourth wall” (again) to the MCU, but that is not what this series only revealed. She-Hulk also gave us two confirmed mutants. The first one is the Spanish superhero, El Aguila.

El Aguila

The infamous swashbuckler was portrayed by Joseph Castillo-Midyett. El Aguila is an expert swordsman, but his most defining feature is the ability to manipulate electricity. In the comics, Aguila is indeed a mutant who became a vigilante. He teamed up with other street-level heroes like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil.

Mr. Immortal

Another character that was featured in She-Hulk is Craig Hollis a.k.a Mr. Immortal. Well, his monicker is pretty self-explanatory. How do we explain this, err, Craig Hollis is somehow invincible. His immense healing factor makes him technically immortal, hence the name. As seen in episode 6, he just jumps out of the window after an argument. Heck, if we can all do that, wouldn’t we relate to Hollis?

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law did not reveal how Hollis acquired such ability. But, in the comics, Mr. Immortal was indeed a mutant. Hopefully, we would later see more of Mr. Immortal moving forward. Unfortunately, if you saw how bad his superhero stint was, you’d think he wouldn’t last a day in the live-action series. (Spoiler: Mr. Immortal isn’t very immortal after all).

Colossus

Since Deadpool 3 is officially an MCU film, technically speaking, Colossus is another mutant confirmed to be joining the universe. The character will be back for the threequel with more action.

Colossus has been appearing in Fox’s X-Men movies and has also been part of Deadpool since day 1. Colossus has one of the coolest abilities. He is a mutant with the ability to transform his entire body into a form of “organic steel”. However, he just can’t turn one part of his body into this super-powered metal, instead, he has to transform everything.

Deadpool is … a mutant? Maybe not.

Is MCU’s Deadpool a mutant? Many fans doubt that Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool belongs to that category of superhumans. But, if we look back to X-Men: Origins, isn’t Deadpool a.k.a Wade part of Wolverine’s team of mutants? He was an exceptional wielder of swords and has amazing reflexes. However, he does not possess any superhuman abilities like Sabretooth, Gambit, Blob, and even the teleporting John Wraith.

Moreover, the first Deadpool film featured a normal Wade Wilson who unfortunately succumbed to late-stage cancer. He would eventually be treated by Ajax, but that cure would turn him into Deadpool.
