#FBI calls for tips in case of cop-killer Joanne Chesimard

“#FBI calls for tips in case of cop-killer Joanne Chesimard”
The FBI on Friday made renewed calls for help in tracking down one of the most wanted terrorists — a notorious cop-killer who fled prison more than four decades ago.
Joanne Chesimard, who is also known as Assata Shakur, was granted political asylum in Cuba after she busted out of a New Jersey prison in 1979.
“Joanne Chesimard is wanted by the FBI for escaping from prison in Clinton, NJ, in November of 1979 while serving a life sentence for murdering a NJ State Trooper in May of 1973,” the agency wrote on Twitter.
That trooper was Werner Foerster, who was shot dead by Chesimard at a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Chesimard — a former Black Panther and godmother of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur — was convicted of Foerster’s murder in March 1977, but only served two years of her life sentence before other black militants helped her escape.
The FBI is offering up to $1 million for any tips that directly lead to the arrest of Chesimard, who was the first woman to make the agency’s most-wanted terrorist list.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 973-792-3000.
