Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software data for Japan for week of June 2, 2025 to June 8, 2025.
Mario Kart World for Switch 2 was the highest selling new release of the week, opening at 782,566 retail copies sold. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma for Switch followed at 45,703 retail sales, with the Switch 2 version selling an additional 10,877 units. The Switch 2 version was the second highest selling system launch title.
On the hardware side, Switch 2 debuted at 947,931 units, surpassing the original Switch’s 329,152 sold (as per Media Create) at launch. The PlayStation 5 family sold 20,782 units, the Switch family sold 16,611 units, the Xbox Series family sold 333 units, and the PlayStation 4 family sold 24 units.
