Safety wasn’t part of the lesson during a deadly floating-yoga class on Long Island, a lawsuit contends.

Lisa Margaritis, 49, died Aug. 2, 2019, about 45 minutes into a 9 a.m. stand-up paddleboard yoga session offered by The Giving Room in Southold, her husband said in a lawsuit filed against the yoga studio.

Margaritis fell into a strong current in Hashamomuck Pond trying to help another member of the class, which was held on a body of water in Southold, according to a report.

The trendy classes take traditional yoga outside, to be done by participants standing on paddleboards floating in local waterways.

The Giving Room and instructor Lauren Mayo failed to pick a safe spot for Margaritis’ class, and “failed to determine how the class would be safely run,” Peter Margaritis alleges in his lawsuit.

They even failed to take the tides in the tidal pond into consideration, he argues in documents filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.

The victim’s family alleges gross negligence and willful misconduct by The Giving Studio, Mayo, Peconic Water Sports and Goldsmith’s Boat Shop, which also were allegedly involved in offering the class. They’re seeking unspecified damages.

The Giving Room declined to comment. Mayo could not be reached.

Peconic Water Sports didn’t rent any equipment to Margaritis, said a lawyer who offered condolences to her family.

“When an accident happens, it does not always mean someone else is responsible,” attorney James Mercante said.
