#Facebook accounts contain misinformation about COVID vaccine: report

A new report says three dozen Facebook pages reaching approximately 14.2 million users contained inaccurate and unsubstantiated allegations about the safety and effects of any future COVID-19 vaccine, and vaccines in general.

NewsGuard, which released the report Thursday, labeled the sites “misinformation super spreaders” when it comes to COVID-19.

Among the false claims that the report found were 125 separate posts from April to September of an article posted on WorldTruth.tv falsely claiming that a COVID-19 vaccine would use “microchips” as part of a “global tracking system.”

There were also 12 separate posts in August 2020 linking to an article that falsely claims that a COVID-19 vaccine would “alter” human DNA.

The article from InfoWars, owned by right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, claims COVID-19 vaccines will modify a recipient’s DNA “turning the person into a genetically modified organism.”

It further claims a person’s human cell lines “would become patentable property owned by the biotechnology companies.”

The Web site HealthImpactNews.com, founded by Bill Shilhavy, has also run numerous stories that said a COVID-19 vaccine will “genetically modify” humans who take it.
