DJI’s original Osmo Action camera was a pretty straightforward riff on the GoPro form factor, and as such, most people saw it as nothing more than a cheap knockoff. But the new Action 2 camera is a shockingly unique device—it’s tiny, it comes with a ton of magnetic accessories, and it even drops the silly “Osmo” branding.

Available now at DJI’s webstore, the new Action 2 camera is just 1.5 inches tall and less than an inch thick. Its 12MP sensor has an impressive 155-degree FOV, and it can shoot 4K footage at 120FPS. It also shoots slow-mo video at a respectable 1080P 240FPS and is waterproof up to 10 meters.

These specs only fall slightly short of the GoPro HERO 10 Black’s 5.3K 60FPS capabilities, and they’re impressive for a camera of this size. Of course, there are only so many ways that you can compare the Action 2 to a GoPro, because their form factors are so different.

DJI is using a new magnetic mounting system to expand the Action 2 camera’s capabilities. Basically, you get a bundle of magnetic accessories with your Action 2 purchase, including a 7-hour battery pack, a lanyard, a tripod adapter, and (if you buy the more expensive kit) a front-facing viewfinder for vlogging.

You can order the DJI Action 2 now at DJI’s webstore. The basic “Power Combo” kit costs $400, while the “Dual-Screen Combo” kit with a front-facing viewfinder costs $519. These prices are comparable to the GoPro HERO 10 Black, which costs $450 when purchased with a one-year GoPro subscription (which costs $50).
