A banned former volunteer at Arizona’s Democratic Party headquarters was charged Wednesday with setting fire to the Phoenix building, police said.

Matthew Egler, 29, is accused of starting the blaze that caused “substantial damage” to the downtown offices early Friday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Egler was busted early Wednesday at a family member’s home and charged with arson, cops said.

The alleged firebug was recently barred from volunteering at the headquarters, police said. It’s unclear what led to his dismissal.

Police last Friday posted surveillance video that showed a man arriving alone in a car at the building before breaking glass to get inside and igniting a fire.

Investigators were able to link the car in the footage to Egler, authorities said.

Egler also allegedly posted comments on social media connecting him to the arson, police said.
