#Ex-LSU students say Derrius Guice raped them in 2016

Two former Louisiana State University students, including a tennis player, claim ex-Washington Football Team running back Derrius Guice raped them four years ago when he was a freshman, according to a report.

The accusations made just months apart by the women in 2016 were shared with at least two coaches and an athletic administrator at the university, but school administrators apparently did not investigate the claims, USA Today reports.

An attorney for Guice, who was released by Washington on Aug. 7 after he was busted on multiple domestic violence charges in Virginia for allegedly attacking his girlfriend three times earlier this year, has denied the accusations.

“At no time were allegations of physical or sexual assault brought against Derrius during his years as a student athlete at LSU,” attorney Peter Greenspun told the newspaper in a statement.

“To bring up such assertions only after the Virginia charges were initiated certainly calls into question the credibility, nature and timing of what is being alleged years later.”

Denouncing the claims as “speculation and innuendo,” Greenspun said Guice, 23, should not have to “make any comment at all” about the rape claims.

“But he wants to be absolutely clear,” Greenspun’s statement continued. “The allegations in this story are just that and have no basis in fact.”

One of Guice’s accusers was interviewed by USA Today in January and the newspaper started working on Wednesday’s story on Aug. 3, some four days before the running back’s arrest.

That same woman, a former LSU tennis player, also described her allegations in a June lawsuit that identifies her as “Jane Doe” and spoke with an investigator for Washington on Aug. 6 about the rape allegation, the newspaper reports.

In a statement, the Washington Football Team said it no additional comment beyond what coach Ron Rivera said on Aug. 10 that the move to cut Guice was his decision, referring all other questions to league officials.

A spokesman for the league, meanwhile, said the NFL wasn’t aware of sexual assault allegations against Guice until this month.

The two women allege Guice sexually assaulted them in their apartments after they had been drinking, with one claiming the LSU standout showed up uninvited to a party she hosted before raping her as she slept in her bedroom, USA Today reports.

“I was drunk and passed out on my bed,” the woman said. “I never gave him consent. I never wanted to have sex with him. I don’t even remember except the flashbacks I had. I just wonder sometimes, does he even know that that was wrong?”

The former tennis player, meanwhile, claims Guice raped her in her apartment after meeting him at a bar. Both women requested not to be identified out of fear of reprisal, the newspaper reports.

The ex-tennis player said she reported the alleged rape to the school’s Title IX office, but claims it wasn’t investigated and she had not received a copy of the report from LSU that she requested as recently as last week.

The other accuser said LSU emailed her after a friend reported the alleged rape, asking her if she wished to file a formal complaint, which she did not, USA Today reports.

Both women did not report the alleged attacks to law enforcement officials, as campus and local police have no record of them, according to the report.

University officials declined to answer detailed questions on the accusations, instead releasing a statement saying it takes “all accusations” of sexual assault seriously.

“Formal complaints are promptly and fully investigated and the rights and privacy of students are protected as stipulated by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act,” the statement read.

“Complainants are also strongly encouraged to report the offense to law enforcement and are provided information on health care, counseling and supportive measures available.”
