The official Twitter for Studio Khara announced today that Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, the fourth and final installment in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy film series, earned a huge 3,338,422,400 yen (30.58 million USD) on 2,194,533 admissions in seven days since its release.
Compared to the first seven-day gross of the previous third film Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, which made 5.3 billion yen (48.5 million USD) from its total domestic run in 2012, box office revenue was up 145.1 percent and attendance was up 133.6 percent.
The 155-minute film was released in 466 theaters in Japan on March 8, 2021. Despite the fact that it was released on a Monday, which was rare in the Japanese film industry, it made a strong 802,774,200 yen (7.35 million USD) on 539,623 admissions on its opening day, which was the highest record in the Evangelion franchise.
