#Evangeline Lilly Sparks Backlash with Anti-Vaccine Rant

Evangeline Lilly has a lot of people talking after attending an anti-vaccine rally and slamming vaccine mandates on social media. On Instagram, the 43-year-old actress announced that she was personally in attendance at a rally in Washington, D.C., to protest the vaccine on Sunday. Known anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy spoke at the same rally where he made headlines for comparing the mandates to the Holocaust, and Lilly’s post was met with swift backlash as well.

“I was in DC this weekend to support bodily sovereignty while Canadian truckers were rallying for their cross-country, peaceful convoy in support of the same thing,” Lilly says in her Instagram post. “I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will, under threat of violent attack, arrest or detention without trial, loss of employment, homelessness, starvation, loss of education, alienation from loved ones, excommunication from society… under any threat whatsoever.”

She adds: “This is not the way. This is not safe. This is not healthy. This is not love. I understand the world is in fear, but I don’t believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems. I was pro choice before COVID and I am still pro choice today.”

This storyline may seem familiar to some Marvel fans, as Black Panther star Letitia Wright has also been outspoken for her stance against the Covid-19 vaccine. When Wright suffered an injury and had to spend some time away from the set of the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, there was speculation she’d end up leaving the project altogether because of her views on the situation. Wright has since recovered and returned to the set to get back to work, killing those rumors. The production recently paused yet again due to another Covid-19 outbreak very soon after shooting had just resumed.

Vaccine mandates have been affecting other major movie and TV productions based on some actors refusing to take them. One famous example was Ice Cube dropping out of the Jack Black comedy Oh Hell No because he didn’t want to comply with the vaccine mandate. This was also controversial given the continued divide amongst the general public about the Covid-19 vaccine.
