The Eminem Show sold over 284,000 copies on its first day, instantly becoming the biggest selling album of 2002. Now with over 27 million sold, it’s one of the best-selling albums of all time and second best-selling album of the 21st century. At the 2003 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Rap Album, while “Without Me” won Best Music Video.
The album also remained at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for six consecutive weeks and sold 1.2 million copies in its second week. Of course, Eminem has become one of the most successful artists in music history. His latest project, Music To Be Murdered By: Side B, arrived in December 2021, serving as the deluxe edition of its original, Music To Be Murdered By.
Eminem made a rare cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend as the cast said goodbye to longtime cast member Pete Davidson. For one Davidson’s last sketches, he again rapped along to an Eminem beat, this time to Dr. Dre’s 2001 single “Forgot About Dre.” Toward the end of the song — appropriately titled “Forgot About Lorne [Michaels]” — the music suddenly comes to a halt and Eminem shows up with a question for Davidson.
“Pete, what you doing, man?” he asks. “It’s another parody, another tribute or something? I would just stop. Yeah, they all suck,” to which Davidson replies, “Do you not like the videos or you just don’t like me?” Shady responds, “Just please stop. It’s really bad.” But Davidson claims, “Honestly, we just do these ’cause we love you so much Marshall. They’re like a tribute.” Eminem wasn’t having it though and demands, “Pete, don’t fucking do it again.” Watch it below.
