Well, in New Jersey, anyway.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP will be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, the organization announced Wednesday. He joins Grammy Award-winner Cissy Houston, actor John Amos and actress Anne Hathaway among others in the distinction.
“These Garden State heroes perfectly represent what makes our state great,” Jon Hanson, chairman of the Hall of Fame, said according to AP.
Manning, who lives in Summit, N.J., will be officially inducted on Oct. 18 in a virtual ceremony.
Other sports figures to receive the honor include NBA star Rick Barry, boxer Gerry Cooney, former Rutgers athletic director Robert Mulcahy and Rutgers head women’s basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer.
After retiring following the 2019 season, Manning will be eligible for the NFL Hall of Fame in four years. He ranks seventh all-time in career passing yards, touchdowns and completions.
Manning is one of just five players all-time to have at least two Super Bowl MVP awards. Other than Tom Brady, who is still playing, the other members of that group – Joe Montana, Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw – are all NFL Hall of Famers.
