For those who are unaware, Elden Ring is an upcoming action role-playing game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Elden Ring features a collaboration between game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin. You must have heard of George R.R. Martin as the writer of the popular “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series. The game is all set to release on January 21, 2022. It will be playable in Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Gameplay Leaked
Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games in the world right now, hence, it is subject to lots of leaks and rumors. A bunch of gameplay footage for the game was leaked in March 2021 and now new footage has been leaked. It looks an awful lot like Dark Souls (also created by Bandai Namco) and is driving fans nuts!
A 27-second footage was leaked yesterday, and it showcased an overview of the basic setting and the general controls. The footage is seen on YouTube channels, but they were quickly taken down from the internet. The footage is still available on the internet, and you can have a look at it here.

About the Footage
You might remember that gameplay footage of the game was also available at Gamescom 2021. Well, this is not the same footage according to games journalist Gene Park’s latest tweet. It’s not clear how new or old the footage is but one thing is clear, it is indeed footage from Elden Ring. An industry insider Jeff Grubb claimed that footage is running on Xbox One, and likely Xbox One X based on framerate.
- The footage doesn’t reveal much but it showcases the player is a black knight kind of appearance. The knight is seen wielding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other with a stone-colored cloak and grey armor. He can be seen standing on what appears to be a hilltop, surrounded by pleasant sceneries and fortresses.
- We can also see some huge bright yellow and shadowy trees extending as up as the sky goes. They seem to be translucent trees which might as well be unfinished work rather than meaning something.
- Unfortunately, as of this footage, the graphics don’t look very impressive and if it isn’t old footage, then it requires a lot of work. Anyways, it seems to have a similar period fantasy vibe like Dark Souls or Witcher series and we are sure to get loads of more information on it soon.
