E3 2021

The Entertainment Software Association has confirmed plans for E3 2021, which will officially return as a virtual event from June 12 to 15. The announcement promises that developers will showcase “their latest news and games directly to fans around the world,” and the ESA is teaming up with media partners globally to make it free and available for everyone to watch.

So far, companies who have made early commitments to the event include Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media, with more to come.

Here’s what ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis had to say about the plans:

“For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games … We are evolving this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable center stage for video games.”

Back in 2019, the ESA and E3 were in hot water as a result of a leak that resulted in the personal data of over 2,000 journalists and analysts being exposed to the public. All of the information was easily accessible on a spreadsheet with the click of a button, allowing anyone to download it before it was eventually removed.
