#Steve Cohen’s Mets purchase is officially official

Steve Cohen has five words to send Mets fans on their way to happy weekend:

“It’s official,” he tweeted out from his @StevenACohen2 account on Friday afternoon. “We are closed.”

Cohen’s announcement that his purchase of the Mets from the Wilpon family begins a new chapter in which the franchise is expected to spend — and win — big.

“This is a significant milestone in the history of this storied franchise,” the billionaire hedge fund owner said in a statement. “I want to thank everybody who helped make this happen. The 2021 season is right around the corner and we’ve got a lot of work to do, so I’m excited to get started.

“Let’s go Mets!”
