#DualSense ‘drift issues’ under law firm scanner

In light of recent events, Sony has found itself in hot water regarding its new DualSense controller. The company faced backlash a few days ago as alleged ‘drifting issues’ forced many people to take the matter to social media.

Reported first on Tuesday by the same, Kotaku had tried to reach out to Sony customer services and after a grueling wait, when they had finally found a representative, they were told that the DualSense drift was covered under warranty but the cost of transportation of the device to the repair centre has to be borne by the owner.

Now, US based legal firm, Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith, the company responsible for bringing a class-action law suit against Nintendo in 2019 for similar issues in its Joy-Con controller, a part of its flagship product — the Nintendo Switch, has released a class-action investigation portal, reports EuroGamer, through its website and has asked DualSense users who are facing similar issues to contact them.

Given the prevailing circumstances, it may be appropriate to conclude that Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith may be actively considering bringing similar charges against Sony.

Microsoft was also thrown under a microscope last year for ‘drift issues’ in its new Xbox One Elite Series 2 controllers. All this is happening in the middle of a pandemic-induced economic crisis causing a global scarcity of electronics parts leading to a slowdown in next-gen console and computer parts manufacturing.
