The driver accused of hitting and killing a city Correction Department worker with his car outside Yankee Stadium was charged with manslaughter and held on $20,000 bail Saturday.

Carlos Hernandez, 24, was speeding and ran a red light when he slammed his BMW X6 into 69-year-old Cathy Garcia’s Mitsubishi Outlander, prosecutors said in Bronx Criminal Court.

Hernandez and two others in the car, Edwin Amparo and Atahualda Rodriguez, fled the 5:15 a.m. Thursday crash, but turned themselves in a day later, said police, who found several catalytic converters in the abandoned BMW.

Prosecutors originally sought $150,000 bail for Hernandez, but Judge Lisa Headley rejected the request.

Amparo, 29, and Rodriguez, 28, were each arraigned separately Saturday on grand larceny charges, and released on their own recognizance. They declined to comment as they left court.

Hernandez, who will be electronically monitored if he makes bail, is next due in court Sept. 6. None of the three have criminal records, according to police. 

Garcia — who has worked in the Application Investigation Unit for the city Corrections department since 2018 — was on her way to work and just blocks from her home when the deadly wreck occurred.
