Doomsday-obsessed mom Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell were a good match because they both “had deception in them,” a former pal divulged in a new interview.

Vallow’s former best friend Melanie Gibb described her impression of the alleged cult-member couple — who have both been charged in the disappearance of Vallow’s children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.

“They were both, like, gasoline and fire — equally destructive to each other,” Gibb told “Dateline NBC”, for a special set to air Monday night.

“And they both lie. And so, that was their common thread, is that they were really good lying to each other,” Gibb added. “[It] seemed a good fit, for them to be like that with each other.”

Daybell — who was arrested last week after the remains of his stepkids were found buried in his Idaho backyard — appeared to control Vallow, Gibb said.

“l saw him as the hand and her as the puppet on that hand,” she said.

Friends have said that Vallow and Daybell were part of a doomsday cult called Preparing a People, which believes in prepping for a second coming of Jesus Christ and the end of days.

In a letter published this week, Gibb detailed how Vallow once had deadly “visions” — and called her cult “the work of Satan.”

“Chad and Lori were so anxious to be together that Chad devised a plan and called Lori to let her know that Charles was taken over by an unclean spirit and was no longer Charles anymore. These unclean spirits would later be called Zombies,” Gibb wrote.

She added that Vallow may have been manipulated by Daybell, who was “soft spoken” and seemed to “have all the answers.”

“There is nothing like letting the world see you be deceived,” she wrote. “Satan came knocking.”

She added, “My heart is so broken because of what happened to all those who were murdered and those who I once called my friends.”

Daybell pleaded not guilty this week to two felony counts of concealment of evidence tied to the discovery of the children’s remains. He remains held on $1 million bail.

Vallow was arrested in February after failing to notify authorities of the whereabouts of her children — and has since been charged with child abandonment. She is also being held on $1 million bail.

The kids had been missing since September and Daybell and Vallow have been accused of lying to and not cooperating with police during the months-long investigation.

The “Dateline NBC” special “What Happened to JJ and Tylee” will explore the latest in the case, and will also include interviews with another of Vallow’s friends, April Raymond.
