#‘Don’t Know What to Do’

A woman was left in shock after finding more than just decorations on her Christmas tree!

In a video posted on TikTok, user @brettbratt359 revealed how she found a possum hiding in her faux snow tree, which was decorated with black baubles, tinsel and bows.

“I don’t understand how this thing is in my house right now,” she captioned the clip.

In the video, the animal can be seen perched amongst the branches in the middle of the tree as the woman films it.

“I am literally freaking out right now,” she told the camera. “I have no idea how this possum got in my house and up into my tree and I’m trying to get it out but it will not let me and I just don’t know what to do. I don’t know how it got in here, I don’t leave my doors open. Somebody help!”

In another video, she also shared a close-up of the possum and said, “Hey little buddy. How did you get in my house and into my tree without me noticing? You’re really cute but I don’t know what to do.”

The woman later explained how she discovered the animal and removed it from her home after hearing it sneeze while she was sitting on her couch.

“I have three dogs and a cat so I figured it was one of them, but I looked over and they weren’t there,” she said.

“Then I heard it again but a little louder and some other noises and I got up and I started looking to see if my cat was stuck behind the couch or something or sleeping in the window,” she continued. “But as I was looking around I see this really big, long-looking rat tail and I just kind of stop because I was in shock. I didn’t know what it was.”

The woman said she then saw “this giant gray, breathing ball of fur,” and called her boyfriend, who told her where she could find some rubber gloves to remove the animal “just in case he bit me or got grumpy.”

“I get the gloves and I grab around his body and I start trying to pull him out of the tree,” she said. “Well, they have hands and he was holding on for dear life to this Christmas tree and no matter how hard I try to pull him he wasn’t coming off.”

“After giving up a few times and trying again and trying to feed him, I ended up just giving it my all and plucking his fingers from the branch one at a time,” she continued. “It was a struggle and he started to flop around when I actually got him off the branch and then he fell on the floor along with all of the ornaments. It wasn’t a hard fall, it wasn’t very far down.”

The possum then proceeded to run underneath one of the woman’s couches.

“I moved it and I went to try and get him and then he ran under the other couch,” she said. “This process happened five times of me moving them and him running. I thought they were slow animals but that must be a misconception because that mofo was fast!”

After one final attempt, the woman said she was able to get hold of the animal and put it outside. “I moved the couch with all my force and just went for it and tackled him like an NFL football player and got him and calmed him down,” she said.

“He smelled so bad,” she continued, but added that the possum was “not mean and he was not aggressive.”

She also confirmed to her followers that she did call Animal Control but “they didn’t come after hours, it’s a small town.”

“As an animal lover with three dogs, two snakes and a bearded dragon and a cat, I probably would have kept it if it didn’t smell so horrid,” she added.
