#Dolph Lundgren Says Scott Adkins Would Make a Great Punisher

“#Dolph Lundgren Says Scott Adkins Would Make a Great Punisher”
“You’d be a good Punisher, I just realized that,” Lundgren said to Adkins during an interview with ComicBook.com. Adkins responded, “You know what Dolph? I agree!”
Scott Adkins looks enough like Frank Castle, and he definitely has both the physical capabilities and acting chops to pull off a role like the Punisher. There are still some roadblocks that would seemingly prevent him from landing this role. For one, it wasn’t so long ago when Adkins appeared in the MCU already with a minor role in Doctor Strange. There have been other actors to play more than one role in the MCU, though Adkins has expressed some regret over taking that part as it might prevent him from taking on a meatier MCU role anytime soon.
“That is one role that I regret taking,” Adkins told The Illuminerdi. “I wish I would have held out and not taken the role, because now I feel I’ve blown my chance to be in the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe.”
Marvel fans may also be reluctant to accept a new actor in the MCU as Frank Castle if recent Daredevil rumors turn out to be true. There are rumblings that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be making their returns as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively, though if it happens, it will apparently be as “reimagined” versions of the same characters. That means that the MCU’s Punisher doesn’t necessarily need to be Jon Bernthal, but his presence will be more missed by fans if Cox, D’Onofrio, and other actors from the Netflix Marvel shows have appeared.
Bernthal first appeared as Frank Castle on Daredevil before branching out into his own spinoff series. The actor has consistently said he’s up for revisiting that role if the opportunity comes along, but there’s been no indication from him or anyone else that a Punisher return is happening in the near future. Perhaps Marvel Studios will first test the waters with these returns by seeing how the rumored cameos from Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio might pan out.
Dolph Lundgren first played Frank Castle in a movie adaptation simply called The Punisher that was released in 1989. In 2004, Thomas Jane played a new incarnation with Ray Stevenson taking over the role in 2008’s Punisher War Zone. Jane reprised the role for a short film called Dirty Laundry which was released online. No one has taken over the role in live-action form since Bernthal.
Castle Falls with Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins is playing in select theaters and is available to rent On Demand. This news comes to us from ComicBook.com.
