#Nippon TV’s Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Anime To Stream Worldwide

Nippon TV has announced its worldwide distribution plans for Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, the first anime to be produced by its Anime Department, which launched in October 2020.

In a press release, Nippon TV revealed that Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- will be distributed in non-Asian territories by Crunchyroll, while Asian countries will get access to the anime via Medialink’s Ani-one platform and Aniplus’ ANIPLUS TV TV station and Aniplus.tv platform “shortly after” the Japanese broadcast.

Kako Kuwahara, Executive Vice President of Nippon TV’s Anime Department, said in the press release, “We are so proud to be able to show the series to so many viewers around the globe, so soon after its broadcast in Japan…  We look forward to creating new worldwide hits, enhance our global distribution of these series and, ultimately, reach as many anime fans as possible, for many generations.”

The anime’s staff includes Shinji Ishihira (Log Horizon series) as director, Kenta Ihara (Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle) as series composer and scriptwriter, Yukie Suzuki (Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle animation director) as character designer, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Log Horizon series) as music composer. C2C is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Natsuki Hanae (Attack on Titan: The Final Season) as Makoto Misumi, Ayane Sakura (Attack on Titan: The Final Season) as Tomoe, and Akari Kitou (Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You) as Mio.

Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- is based on the light novel series written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto. The story originated as a web novel series that was published on Shoutsetsuka ni Narou from 2012 to 2016 before moving to AlphaPolis in 2016. The light novel series began in May 2013 and released its 15th volume in October 2020. A manga adaptation by Kotora Kino began in July 2015 and released its eighth volume in October 2020.

Nippon TV’s press release describes the anime’s story as:

Makoto Misumi is just an ordinary high school student living a regular life, but all of a sudden gets summoned to the other world to become a “hero.” The goddess of the other world, however, insults him for being different and strips his “hero” title, before casting him off to the wilderness at the edge of the world. As he wanders the wilderness, Makoto encounters dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and all sorts of non-human tribes. Because Makoto comes from a different world, he is able to unleash unimaginable magical powers and combat skills. But just how will he handle his encounters with various species and survive in his new environment. In this fantasy, Makoto tries to transform the other world into a better place despite the humans and gods having turned their backs on him.
