#Doechii’s “Catfish/Denial is a River” performance shut down the Grammys

Doechii took the stage at the 2025 Grammys not long after becoming the third Black woman in history to win a Best Rap Album, and put all that adrenaline to good use in her performance. Her viral hits “Catfish” and “Denial is a River,” two tracks from her album Alligator Bites Never Heal were performed with a full fleet of identically-dressed back-up dancers, a lot of flashbulbs, and some impeccable choreography. New artists who perform at the Grammys know that it’s going to be their introduction to the world, and all of them dream of giving one as undeniable as this. It may just be a new standard.
