#Disney+’s Loki First Impression » OmniGeekEmpire

In the long-awaited series, Loki has arrived on Disney+, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the god of mischief and mayhem and after watching the first episode, I’d say we may have another hit on our table.

The mercurial villain Loki resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Here, we see Loki stand trial for stepping out of his timeline and sentenced to death. Of course, Loki doesn’t die and instead, the episode answered a lot of questions about why Loki was the one that got trialed and not the Avengers. It was quite simple, yet odd. As it turns out, the Avengers were allowed to time travel but Loki was not. Look, I don’t know the logistic of time travel in the Marvel universe, or how the TVA (Time Variance Authority) operates, but I’m going to go on a limb here and say this was just a cop-out in writing to step out of the line to give Loki a second chance. Simply put, up to this point the MCU has been following a loose guide, however with this new series, it’s the first time that they’re stepping into uncharted territory.

Most of the episode focused on two themes, 1. Loki coming to terms with his fate, and 2. the hunt for another variant that’s killing off the TVA agents. However, the big twist that caught me off guard is that we’re going to be hunted down another Loki. One who is likely aware of everything and is up to his usual mischief. It’s going to be a cat and mouse chance of Loki vs Loki and I’m all for it. Not just that, but that fact that Loki is now aware that his entire life is set up for others to win must have taken a psychological hit on him, especially given the fact that this Loki hasn’t gone through the hardship that Scared Loki went through. This will be interesting.

Now, how Loki (Redemption Loki) will end up becoming, in the end, remains to be seen. Whether he’ll end up being good again or revert back to his old ways or entirely somehting new remains to be seen.

Overall, I enjoyed the episode, it was a good start and I look forward to seeing all the wacky and crazy stuff they’ll do to set up wave 4.
